Abstract
Driver mileage is an important factor in usage-based motor insurance because the distance driven by a policyholder can influence exposure to road-related risks and the likelihood of experiencing an insured event. Differences in mileage bands may therefore affect the assessment of risk and the premiums charged under usage-based insurance arrangements. This study examines the effect of driver mileage bands on usage-based insurance premiums. The study will investigate how different annual or periodic mileage ranges influence premium determination for usage-based motor insurance policies.
