Abstract

The frequency with which drought events occur can therefore influence the magnitude of losses experienced by insured farmers and the financial obligations assumed by agricultural insurers. Understanding this relationship is important for effective actuarial risk assessment and sustainable agricultural insurance operations. This study examines the effect of drought frequency on agricultural insurance loss costs. The study will assess how the occurrence and recurrence of drought events influence the frequency and financial value of agricultural insurance losses. It will examine whether increases in drought frequency are associated with higher aggregate loss costs and greater variability in insurance claims. The study will focus on drought-related factors such as the number of drought events, duration of drought periods, severity of drought conditions, and changes in drought occurrence over time.
