Variations in temperature indices can therefore influence the expected frequency and magnitude of insured losses and consequently affect the determination of weather insurance premiums. This study examines the effect of temperature indices on weather insurance premium determination. It will investigate how changes in temperature-based measurements influence the estimation of expected insurance losses and the premiums required for weather-related coverage. The study will consider different temperature index levels and assess their implications for weather insurance pricing. The study will focus on factors such as temperature indices, temperature variability, threshold temperatures, frequency of temperature deviations, insured exposure, claim frequency, claim severity, coverage periods, and expected losses.
