Abstract
Time-to-event models are statistical techniques used to analyse the time until a specified event occurs. In insurance, these models can be applied to estimate the period between claim reporting and settlement, providing useful information about the timing of future claim payments. Accurate settlement-time projections are important for estimating insurance liabilities, planning claims cash flows, and determining appropriate reserve levels. The study examines the effect of time-to-event models on insurance claim settlement projections. It will assess how the application of these models influences estimates of the expected time required to settle insurance claims. The study will also examine the relationship between claim characteristics, settlement duration, survival probabilities, and projected claim settlement patterns. The study will focus on claim settlement duration, claim reporting dates, settlement dates, survival probabilities, hazard rates, censored observations, claim characteristics, and projected settlement periods. Time-to-event techniques such as survival analysis and hazard modelling will be applied to estimate the probability of claims remaining unsettled over different periods.
