Correlation Between Foot Arch Height and Ankle Mobility Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study examines the correlation between foot arch height and ankle mobility among undergraduate students. Foot arch height is an important structural characteristic of the foot that contributes to weight distribution, shock absorption, and efficient movement, while ankle mobility is essential for walking, balance, posture, and lower limb function. Understanding the relationship between these characteristics may provide useful information on the structural and functional features of the foot and ankle among young adults. The study will specifically determine the foot arch height of undergraduate students and assess their ankle mobility through selected standardized movements. Foot arch height will be measured using appropriate standardized foot anthropometric landmarks and procedures, while ankle mobility will be assessed through relevant range-of-motion measurements. The study will also determine the strength and direction of the correlation between foot arch height and ankle mobility among the participants. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Undergraduate students will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique, and relevant demographic information will be obtained. Foot arch height will be assessed using standardized anthropometric procedures, while ankle mobility will be measured using an appropriate goniometric or range-of-motion technique.
