Morphological Variation of the Heart Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study examines the morphological variation of the heart among undergraduate students, with emphasis on differences in its shape, size, orientation, and external anatomical configuration. The heart is a vital muscular organ located within the mediastinum and is responsible for maintaining blood circulation throughout the body. Understanding variations in cardiac morphology is important for establishing knowledge of normal anatomical differences and for supporting accurate interpretation of clinical and radiological findings involving the heart. The study will assess the morphological characteristics of the heart among undergraduate students and document the different patterns of variation observed. The specific objectives will include identifying variations in cardiac shape and orientation, determining selected cardiac dimensions, documenting differences in the external configuration of the heart, and assessing the frequency of the observed morphological patterns within the study population. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of undergraduate students will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Cardiac morphology and selected dimensions will be assessed using an appropriate imaging-based or anatomical examination procedure, depending on the method employed for the study.
