Morphological Variation of the Tensor Fasciae Latae Muscle Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the morphological variation of the tensor fasciae latae muscle among young adults, with emphasis on differences in its anatomical configuration, muscular dimensions, shape, and relationship with surrounding structures. The tensor fasciae latae is a muscle located in the anterolateral aspect of the thigh and contributes to tension of the fascia lata, stabilization of the hip and knee, and movements of the lower limb. Variations in its morphology may contribute to differences in lower-limb anatomy and may be relevant to clinical and anatomical assessments. The study will assess the morphological characteristics of the tensor fasciae latae muscle among young adults. The specific objectives will include identifying variations in the muscle's shape and configuration, determining selected muscular dimensions, documenting differences in its anatomical relationships, and comparing observed morphological characteristics between the right and left sides where applicable. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of young adult participants or suitable anatomical specimens will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique, depending on the assessment method employed. It is recommended that possible anatomical variations of the muscle be considered during assessment and clinical procedures involving the hip and lateral thigh, while further studies involving larger and more diverse populations should be conducted to establish broader reference data on tensor fasciae latae morphology.
