Effect of Bond Maturity Structures on Insurance Investment Returns

Abstract

Bond maturity structure refers to the distribution of bond investments according to the periods remaining before their principal amounts become due. Insurance companies invest in bonds with different maturity periods to generate investment income and manage their financial obligations. The structure of these maturities can influence the timing of cash flows, reinvestment opportunities, interest income, and the overall returns generated from insurance investment portfolios. The study examines the effect of bond maturity structures on insurance investment returns. It will assess how the distribution of short-term, medium-term, and long-term bonds within insurance investment portfolios influences investment returns. The study will also examine the relationship between bond maturity periods, interest rates, bond yields, reinvestment conditions, and the resulting investment performance. The study will focus on bond maturity periods, bond yields, interest rate movements, coupon income, investment portfolio composition, reinvestment rates, and insurance investment returns. Bond valuation and investment return techniques will be applied to evaluate portfolio performance under different maturity structures.
