Effect of Claim Reporting Frequency on Insurance Claims Administration

Abstract

The study examines the effect of claim reporting frequency on insurance claims administration, focusing on how the frequency with which insurance claims are reported influences the efficiency and effectiveness of claims management processes. Claims administration is a vital component of insurance operations because it involves the receipt, documentation, assessment, processing, and settlement of claims. Efficient claims administration is important for controlling operational costs, ensuring timely settlement, maintaining accurate records, and improving policyholder satisfaction. The study will investigate the relationship between claim reporting frequency and insurance claims administration. Frequent claim reporting may increase the workload of claims departments, require additional administrative resources, and place greater pressure on claims processing systems. On the other hand, effective claims administration procedures may enable insurers to manage higher volumes of reported claims without substantial delays or increases in processing inefficiencies. Understanding this relationship is therefore important for improving claims management capacity. The study will further examine how variations in claim reporting frequency may affect key aspects of claims administration, including claim registration, documentation, verification, assessment, processing time, settlement procedures, and administrative costs. Attention will also be given to factors such as claims reporting channels, quality of submitted information, staffing levels, claims management systems, and the complexity of reported claims. These factors may influence how efficiently insurers respond to changing volumes of reported claims. A quantitative research approach will be adopted for the study. Relevant data will be obtained from selected insurance companies through structured instruments and available claims administration records covering claim reporting frequency, processing time, settlement duration, administrative costs, and claims volumes. Descriptive statistical techniques will be used to identify patterns in claim reporting and administrative performance, while appropriate inferential statistical techniques will be applied to determine the effect of reporting frequency on claims administration efficiency. The study is expected to reveal that claim reporting frequency has a significant effect on insurance claims administration. Higher reporting frequencies may be associated with increased administrative workload, longer processing periods, and greater resource requirements, particularly where claims management systems are inadequate. The findings may also show that insurers with efficient digital reporting systems, adequate staffing, and well-structured claims procedures are better positioned to manage variations in claim reporting frequency. The findings are expected to provide useful information for claims managers, actuaries, underwriters, insurance executives, and other professionals involved in insurance claims administration. Understanding the effect of claim reporting frequency may assist insurers in improving resource allocation, strengthening claims processing systems, reducing administrative delays, and maintaining effective service delivery. The findings may also encourage insurers to adopt technology that supports faster claim reporting, documentation, verification, and monitoring. The study concludes that claim reporting frequency is an important consideration in the effective administration of insurance claims. It is therefore recommended that insurance companies strengthen claims management systems, improve digital reporting channels, maintain adequate administrative capacity, and regularly monitor changes in claim reporting patterns. Appropriate staffing, efficient documentation procedures, and timely claims processing should also be encouraged to ensure that increases in reporting frequency do not compromise the quality and efficiency of claims administration.
