Abstract

The study examines the effect of vehicle type on motor insurance claims experience, focusing on how differences in vehicle characteristics may influence the frequency and severity of insurance claims. Vehicle type is an important consideration in motor insurance because different categories of vehicles may have varying levels of accident exposure, repair costs, usage patterns, and susceptibility to damage. Understanding the relationship between vehicle type and claims experience is therefore essential for effective risk assessment, underwriting, and premium determination. The study will investigate the effect of vehicle type on motor insurance claims experience by examining the claims associated with different categories of vehicles. It will consider variations in claim frequency, claim severity, total claims cost, and overall loss experience across vehicle types. The study will seek to determine whether certain vehicle categories consistently demonstrate higher or lower claims experience and whether these differences are statistically significant. Furthermore, the study will assess how characteristics associated with vehicle type may contribute to differences in insurance claims.
