Morphological Variation of the Mesentery Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the morphological variation of the mesentery among young adults, with emphasis on its shape, extent, attachment, and anatomical configuration. The mesentery is a double fold of peritoneum that connects portions of the intestine to the posterior abdominal wall and provides a pathway for blood vessels, nerves, lymphatic vessels, and connective tissues. Knowledge of its morphological characteristics is important for understanding individual anatomical differences and for improving the interpretation of abdominal anatomy and surgical procedures involving the intestinal and mesenteric regions. The study will assess the morphological characteristics of the mesentery among young adults using relevant anatomical landmarks and standardized imaging or anatomical assessment procedures. The specific objectives will include identifying different morphological patterns of the mesentery, determining its measurable dimensions where applicable, documenting variations in its attachment and extent, and describing the anatomical relationships between the mesentery and adjacent abdominal structures. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study.
