Relationship Between Acromial Breadth and Body Height Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study will examine the relationship between acromial breadth and body height among undergraduate students, with emphasis on determining the association between shoulder breadth and overall body stature. Acromial breadth, commonly assessed as the distance between the acromial landmarks of the shoulders, is an important anthropometric measurement used in describing shoulder dimensions and body proportions. Examining its relationship with body height may provide useful information on upper body morphology and individual anthropometric variation. The study will specifically determine the acromial breadth and body height of undergraduate students and assess the strength and direction of the relationship between the two measurements. It will also describe the distribution and variation of acromial breadth and body height among the participants and determine whether differences in shoulder breadth are associated with differences in overall stature. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Undergraduate students who meet the specified inclusion criteria will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique. Acromial breadth will be measured as the linear distance between the right and left acromial landmarks using a suitable anthropometric instrument, while body height will be measured in the standing position using a stadiometer or other standardized height-measuring device. The data obtained will be analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while an appropriate correlation technique will be used to determine the relationship between acromial breadth and body height. The study is expected to reveal a measurable relationship between acromial breadth and body height among the undergraduate students. The findings are expected to indicate the direction and strength of the association between shoulder breadth and stature and provide information on variation in upper body proportions within the study population. Further studies involving larger and more diverse populations are also recommended to provide broader reference data on the relationship between shoulder dimensions and stature.
