Relationship Between Forearm Muscle Dimensions and Hand Length Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between forearm muscle dimensions and hand length among young adults, with emphasis on the association between selected muscular measurements of the forearm and the length of the hand. The forearm contains several muscles responsible for movements of the wrist, hand, and fingers, while hand length represents an important anthropometric dimension that may vary among individuals. Understanding the relationship between these measurements may provide useful information on anatomical proportions and normal morphological variation. The study will determine the dimensions of selected forearm muscles and assess their relationship with hand length among young adults. The specific objectives will include measuring selected forearm muscle dimensions, determining the hand length of the participants, assessing the relationship between forearm muscle dimensions and hand length, and identifying variations in the measured parameters between the right and left sides where applicable. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of young adult participants will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Forearm muscle dimensions will be assessed using standardized anatomical and imaging-based procedures, while hand length will be obtained through standardized anthropometric measurements. The collected data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while correlation and other appropriate inferential statistical tests will be used to determine the relationship between the variables. The study is expected to reveal measurable variation in forearm muscle dimensions and hand length among the participants.
