Relationship Between Palmar Triradius Position and Palm Dimensions Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between palmar triradius position and palm dimensions among undergraduate students. Palmar triradii are important anatomical features of the palm formed by the convergence of epidermal ridge systems, while palm dimensions provide measurable indicators of hand morphology. Examining the relationship between the position of palmar triradii and palm dimensions may provide useful information on anatomical variation and proportional characteristics of the hand among young adults. The study will assess the position of selected palmar triradii and measure relevant palm dimensions among the participants. Palmar triradius positions will be identified using standardized palm-print or dermatoglyphic assessment procedures, while palm dimensions such as palm length and palm breadth will be obtained using appropriate anthropometric landmarks and measuring instruments. Standardized procedures will be maintained throughout the assessment to improve the accuracy and consistency of the measurements. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Undergraduate students who meet the predetermined inclusion criteria will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique. Palm prints and anthropometric measurements will be collected under standardized conditions, and relevant triradius positions will be identified and recorded. The collected data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while correlation analysis will be used to determine the relationship between palmar triradius position and selected palm dimensions. The study is expected to reveal variations in palmar triradius position and palm dimensions among the participants. It is also expected to determine whether measurable relationships exist between triradius position and selected dimensions of the palm.
