Relationship Between Splenic Dimensions and Body Height Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between splenic dimensions and body height among young adults, with emphasis on determining whether variations in body height are associated with differences in selected measurements of the spleen. The spleen is an important lymphoid organ located in the left upper quadrant of the abdomen and performs roles in immune function, blood filtration, and the removal of aged blood cells. Knowledge of its dimensions and their relationship with body size is important for understanding normal anatomical variation and for supporting the interpretation of abdominal imaging findings. The study will assess selected splenic dimensions and body height among young adults using appropriate standardized anatomical and imaging-based measurement procedures. The specific objectives will include determining the selected dimensions of the spleen, measuring the body height of the participants, assessing the relationship between splenic dimensions and body height, and identifying variations in the measured parameters among the study participants. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of young adults will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Splenic dimensions will be obtained through standardized imaging procedures using relevant anatomical landmarks, while body height will be measured using a standardized anthropometric technique. The collected data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while correlation and appropriate inferential statistical tests will be used to determine the relationship between splenic dimensions and body height. The study is expected to reveal variations in the selected splenic dimensions among the participants.
