Relationship Between Physical Activity Level and Hand Muscle Endurance
Abstract
The study examines the relationship between physical activity level and hand muscle endurance among young adults, with emphasis on how regular participation in physical activities may influence the ability of the hand and forearm muscles to sustain repeated or prolonged contractions. Hand muscle endurance is important for maintaining grip, performing repetitive tasks, and supporting functional activities that require sustained use of the upper limb. Understanding the relationship between general physical activity and hand muscle endurance may provide useful information on the functional capacity of the hand muscles. The study will assess the physical activity level of the participants and determine their level of hand muscle endurance using standardized assessment procedures. Physical activity level will be assessed using a structured physical activity questionnaire or activity record, while hand muscle endurance will be evaluated through a sustained or repeated grip task using a hand-held dynamometer or other appropriate grip assessment method. Relevant information on participants’ physical activity patterns will also be obtained to support the assessment. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Young adult participants will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique, and data will be collected through standardized physical activity and hand muscle endurance assessments. The collected data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while an appropriate correlation or inferential statistical test will be used to determine the relationship between physical activity level and hand muscle endurance. The study is expected to reveal a measurable relationship between physical activity level and hand muscle endurance among the participants. Individuals with higher levels of regular physical activity may demonstrate greater ability to sustain grip contractions and maintain hand muscle performance during endurance testing. However, variations may be observed according to the frequency, duration, and intensity of physical activity, as well as individual differences in hand use and muscular conditioning. The findings will be useful to anatomists, physiotherapists, exercise professionals, occupational health practitioners, sports professionals, and other healthcare professionals concerned with muscular function and physical performance. The study may provide useful information on the relationship between general physical activity and the functional endurance of the hand and forearm muscles. The findings may also contribute to the development of appropriate physical activity and exercise recommendations aimed at maintaining upper-limb muscular function. The study will conclude by determining the relationship between physical activity level and hand muscle endurance among the study population. It is recommended that regular physical activity and appropriate exercises involving the upper limbs be encouraged to support muscular endurance and functional hand performance, while further studies involving larger and more diverse populations should be conducted to provide broader information on the relationship between physical activity and hand muscle endurance.
