Relationship Between Physical Activity Level and Lower-Limb Muscle Endurance
Abstract
The study examines the relationship between physical activity level and lower-limb muscle endurance among young adults, with emphasis on whether differences in habitual physical activity are associated with variations in the ability of the lower-limb muscles to sustain repeated or prolonged muscular activity. Lower-limb muscle endurance is important for walking, standing, running, balance, and other functional activities. Understanding its relationship with physical activity may provide useful information on the functional effects of regular movement and exercise on lower-limb muscular performance. The study will assess participants’ physical activity levels and lower-limb muscle endurance using standardized procedures. Physical activity level will be determined using an appropriate physical activity questionnaire or activity record, while lower-limb muscle endurance will be assessed through suitable standardized endurance tests involving major lower-limb muscle groups. The assessment will provide information on the participants’ habitual activity patterns and their ability to sustain lower-limb muscular effort under controlled conditions. A descriptive cross-sectional research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of healthy young adults will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Participants will complete the selected physical activity assessment and undergo standardized lower-limb muscle endurance testing under controlled conditions. The collected data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while an appropriate correlation test will be applied to determine the relationship between physical activity level and lower-limb muscle endurance. The study is expected to reveal a measurable relationship between physical activity level and lower-limb muscle endurance among the participants. Individuals with higher levels of regular physical activity may demonstrate greater lower-limb muscle endurance compared with those with lower levels of activity. However, variations may be observed according to the type, frequency, duration, and intensity of physical activities performed by the participants, as well as individual differences in muscular performance. The findings will be useful to anatomists, physiotherapists, physiologists, physical educators, sports scientists, and other healthcare professionals interested in musculoskeletal function and physical performance. The study may provide useful information on the relationship between habitual physical activity and the functional endurance of lower-limb muscles. It may also contribute to practical understanding of lower-limb muscle function and the importance of regular physical activity in maintaining muscular performance. The study will conclude by documenting the relationship between physical activity level and lower-limb muscle endurance among the study population. It is recommended that standardized procedures be used when assessing physical activity and muscular endurance, with appropriate consideration of factors that may influence lower-limb performance. Further studies involving larger and more diverse populations and different physical activity patterns are recommended to provide broader information on the relationship between habitual physical activity and lower-limb muscular endurance.
