INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The interplay between post-colonialism and literary aesthetics has been a subject of critical inquiry and scholarly exploration. As post-colonial societies grapple with the complexities of their colonial legacies and strive for cultural reclamation, literature has emerged as a powerful medium to reflect and interrogate these experiences. This study delves into the works of acclaimed Nigerian playwright Wole Soyinka, focusing specifically on his plays "Death and the King's Horseman" and "A Dance of the Forests," to examine how post-colonial themes are intricately woven into the fabric of their literary aesthetics.
