INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
Attention-Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Children diagnosed with ADHD often face challenges in academic settings due to difficulties in focusing, staying organized, and controlling their behavior (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Parental involvement and support play a crucial role in managing the symptoms of ADHD and promoting positive outcomes for children with the disorder (Evans et al., 2018). Research suggests that parental training in behavior modification techniques can be effective in improving the behavior and academic performance of children with ADHD (Fabiano et al., 2009). By learning strategies to reinforce positive behaviors, set clear expectations, and provide consistent consequences, parents can create a supportive and structured environment that fosters learning and motivation in their children (Power et al., 2013).
However, despite the effectiveness of behavior modification techniques, many parents of children with ADHD may lack the knowledge and skills to implement these strategies effectively (Majid et al., 2017). This highlights the importance of providing training and support to parents to enable them to better understand and address the unique needs of their children with ADHD.
The proposed study aims to address this gap by investigating the impact of training parents of children with ADHD in behavior modification skills. By equipping parents with the tools and techniques necessary to create a supportive learning environment at home, the study seeks to enhance children's motivation to learn and their overall academic achievement. Ultimately, the findings of this study could have significant implications for improving educational outcomes and quality of life for children with ADHD and their families.
