ABSTRACT
The research work was aimed at examining the implications of capital market on the economic growth of a nation. While particular attention was paid to the Nigeria capital market and its activities. With the use of the scientific method of regression, in order to get a reliable result this will validate the purpose of this study. This study adopts an empirical analysis in evaluating the impact of the Nigerian capital market on Nigeria’s economic growth. In the face of capital market reforms in Nigeria multiple regression frameworks with OLS estimation method is used in the empirical analysis as well as trend analysis of stylized fats on some of the indicators of capital market development, to show the performance of the market. It examines critically the research design, target population, sample size, sample technique, research instrument adopted and procedure for data collection methods used in analysing the data and tested the tentative research hypotheses. Similarly, it was discovered that significant relationship exists between the capital market and the level of development of the nation, among others. Finally, this study will make recommendation on how to improve the Nigeria capital market by addressing the problem of liquidity making sure that the SEC regulate the market efficiently and also comparing the Capital market and other financial sector. And also, the relationship with the public and private sector with the capital market in Nigeria for effective development.
