Effect of Adult Education on Adults’ Knowledge of Inverter Installation Techniques

Abstract

Adult education provides opportunities for adults to acquire practical knowledge and skills that can support vocational development, employment, and participation in technical activities. Inverter installation involves knowledge of electrical components, wiring connections, equipment selection, installation procedures, testing, and safety practices required for the proper setup of inverter systems. However, some adults may have limited knowledge of inverter installation techniques due to inadequate access to structured technical learning opportunities. This study therefore examines the effect of adult education on adults’ knowledge of inverter installation techniques. Adult education programmes can provide practical and experience-based learning through demonstrations, guided instruction, discussions, illustrations, and supervised activities. In inverter installation, adults can learn about inverter components, batteries, cables, connection points, installation tools, system arrangement, basic testing procedures, and appropriate safety measures. These learning experiences can enable adults to connect theoretical explanations with practical activities and develop a clearer understanding of the procedures involved in installing inverter systems. Adults’ knowledge of inverter installation techniques refers to their understanding of the components, tools, connections, procedures, and safety practices required for basic inverter installation. Adequate knowledge is important because incorrect connections, unsuitable components, poor cable arrangement, and failure to observe safety procedures can affect system performance and create avoidable electrical hazards. Adult education may therefore improve adults’ knowledge by providing structured explanations, practical demonstrations, and opportunities to observe and practise appropriate installation procedures. The study will adopt a suitable descriptive survey research design. The population will comprise adults participating in selected adult education or vocational programmes, from which an appropriate sample will be selected using a suitable sampling procedure. Data will be collected through a structured questionnaire and an appropriate knowledge assessment designed to measure adults’ knowledge of inverter installation techniques. The research instruments will be subjected to appropriate validation procedures, while their reliability will be established before administration. Data collected will be analysed using relevant descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to determine the effect of adult education on adults’ knowledge of inverter installation techniques. The study is expected to establish that participation in adult education has a positive effect on adults’ knowledge of inverter installation techniques. Adults exposed to structured learning activities are expected to demonstrate improved knowledge of inverter components, battery connections, cable selection, wiring procedures, system arrangement, basic testing, and safety practices. The findings may further indicate that practical demonstrations and supervised learning activities enhance adults’ ability to understand and retain knowledge of basic inverter installation procedures. The study will conclude that adult education can provide an effective avenue for improving adults’ knowledge of inverter installation techniques. It will recommend that adult education and vocational programmes provide appropriate instructional materials, practical demonstrations, supervised hands-on activities, and adequate electrical safety guidance. Strengthening these learning opportunities can enhance adults’ technical knowledge, support vocational skill development, and improve their ability to understand and apply basic inverter installation techniques safely and appropriately.
