Impact of Community Project Education on Adults’ Ability to Develop Activity Plans

Abstract

Community Project Education refers to structured learning that equips adults with the knowledge and practical skills required to plan, organize, and implement activities that address community needs. Activity planning involves identifying tasks, setting objectives, arranging resources, assigning responsibilities, and establishing appropriate timelines for achieving desired outcomes. The ability to develop activity plans is important for ensuring that community projects are organized and implemented systematically. However, some adults may lack the planning skills required to translate community project objectives into clear and practical activities. This study therefore seeks to examine the impact of Community Project Education on adults’ ability to develop activity plans. Community Project Education exposes adults to practical approaches for understanding community needs, setting project objectives, identifying activities, arranging resources, establishing timelines, and organizing responsibilities. Through project-based learning, group discussions, practical exercises, case studies, and simulations, adults can learn how different project activities are connected and how they can be arranged in a logical sequence. These learning experiences can also help adults understand the importance of clear objectives, realistic timeframes, available resources, and appropriate task allocation when preparing activity plans. Adults’ ability to develop activity plans refers to their capacity to organize project activities into a structured plan that clearly indicates what should be done, when it should be done, the resources required, and the responsibilities involved. An effective activity plan provides direction for project implementation and helps participants monitor progress toward established objectives. Adults with adequate activity-planning skills are better prepared to organize community initiatives and coordinate project tasks effectively. Community Project Education can therefore provide the practical knowledge and skills necessary for developing clear and workable activity plans. The study will adopt a quantitative research approach using a survey research design. The population will comprise adults participating in selected adult education and community-based learning programmes. An appropriate sample will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Data will be collected through a structured questionnaire designed to assess participants’ exposure to Community Project Education and their ability to develop activity plans. The instrument will be subjected to appropriate validity and reliability procedures, while the data collected will be analysed using descriptive statistics and relevant inferential statistical techniques. The study is expected to establish that Community Project Education has a positive impact on adults’ ability to develop activity plans. Adults who receive relevant education are expected to demonstrate improved abilities to identify project activities, establish timelines, allocate responsibilities, organize resources, and arrange tasks according to project objectives. The study may further indicate that practical and project-based learning activities provide adults with opportunities to apply planning principles and develop greater confidence in preparing activity plans. The findings will have implications for the teaching and learning of Adult Education. Adult educators may need to emphasize practical project-planning activities that allow learners to develop and evaluate activity plans. Group projects, case studies, simulations, practical planning exercises, and community-based assignments can help adults apply planning concepts to realistic situations. These approaches can make Community Project Education more practical and enable learners to develop competencies that are useful for community development activities. The study will be beneficial to adult learners, adult educators, community development organizations, community groups, project committees, non-governmental organizations, and administrators of adult education programmes. Adult learners may acquire practical planning skills that can improve their participation in community projects. Community organizations and project committees may benefit from members who can prepare organized activity plans, while adult educators may gain useful information for strengthening project-planning components of their programmes. Programme administrators may also use the findings to improve community project education and training activities. The study recommends that Community Project Education should incorporate practical activities that enable adults to develop, review, and improve activity plans. Adult educators should employ project-based learning, simulations, group exercises, and real-life community project examples to strengthen planning skills. Community organizations should also provide adults with opportunities to apply their planning knowledge in actual community initiatives. The study concludes that Community Project Education can contribute to improving adults’ ability to develop effective activity plans and support more organized implementation of community projects.
